ABOUT THE BOOK

Finally, a board book that dares to answer the question: “HOW BIG IS ZAGNODD?” (Spoiler alert: SO big.) From there, we zip around outer space to meet a wild variety of aliens—Boknuk, Fleeb, Igwak, to name a few—who are LONG or FUZZY or BRIGHT or DANCEY or SLEEPY. And then, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, there’s Steve.

This hilarious new book from the out-of-this-world Sandra Boynton will have Earthlings big and small giggling with delight.

REVIEW

This short rather silly board book asks questions about made up creatures before answering them.  The questions ask about some condition related to the creature.  How big?  How long? How fuzzy? How bright? etc.  The silliness makes this a book that young listeners are likely to want to return to again and again.  The illustrations are vintage Boynton, deceptively simple with lots of curves.  A fun book for young listeners who like plenty of silliness and nonsense in their books.  The book provides a fun introduction to character details.

REVIEW

This cute touch-and-feel book honors the tender relationships between mothers and babies.  Each page highlights an animal parent (and baby with a cute Eric Carle illustration and sweet couplet.    Every other spread also has a touch-and-feel element.  There are flaps, soft wool, shiny paper, and finally a mirror for a human reader and baby to look into and appreciate their own relationship.  Eric Carle's illustration's are fabulous as always and the couplets are tender.  A great book for deepening relationships between caregiver and child.
