REVIEW
Kitty and Unicorn think the like the same holiday traditions. But after Kitty falls asleep listening to Unicorn's music and Unicorn accidently destroys Kitty's gingerbread village it becomes clear that the do not in fact enjoy all the same Christmas activities. When they go to choose a Christmas tree, each of the friends tries to accommodate what they believe is the other's preference. As a result they end up with a ginormous tree that they don't have enough decorations to fill. This results in a rather amusing catastrophe that reveals the misunderstanding. Finally the friends find a compromise and settle in to enjoy the holiday. With the sparkly cover and Pham's recognizably adorable art, Kitty and her friends shine through with heart and humor. Young readers who've enjoyed the other books in the series are likely to enjoy this one. Kitty's efforts to decorate the tree with household appliances and other odds and ends point readers toward the coming disaster which arrives with much laughter. As in the previous books, Parakeet and Gecko add their normal offbeat commentary adding to the confusion. The book did leave me wondering though : How do the friends lace up their figure skates? One of life's mysteries, I guess. Loads of fun for families looking to add some sparkle to the holiday season.
