REVIEW

Octopuses are remarkably fascinating animals. In The Incredible Octopus, the author, a marine biologist, shares with readers many interesting facts about octopuses (not octopi). Facts such as the name coming from the Greet word meaning "eight feet", octopuses living around Antarctica, and octopuses having blue blood. Using text, stunning photographs, diagrams, charts, and maps, Spencer includes all kinds of great pieces of information. Animal-loving children, as well as adults, are bound to find the book enthralling. The books design works beautifully, presenting lots of information without being overwhelming. Information including the animal family that octopuses are a part of and what makes them similar too and different from their relatives. The organization of the book makes it easy to find the information you are most interesting in reading. The inclusion of stories about octopus escapees and interviews with scientists who study octopuses increases the books value. All in all, the book provides a glimpse into science in action while sharing loads of interesting facts about octopuses in an appealing and useful way.
