REVIEW

Monsters have to choose what to wear when they get up in the morning.  Hats, socks, undies (on the head), and a tomato (!) work for some monsters.  Other monsters choose to wear a t-shirt, a dress, pajamas, and toy cars (!).  Tamsin likes her tank top, Oliver prefers overalls, Lester tries leaves, and Beatrice puts boots on hands and feet.  What will Evie put on?  The unexpected choices of some of the monsters adds some fun surprises that will induce giggles on the part of young readers and smiles from adult readers.  A fun read that can also help young listeners learn the names of various types of clothing.

REVIEW

Peaches and pears are what some monsters like to eat.  But some monsters like chairs or shoes.  Noodles and stew or cereal and cake are preferred by some monsters.  Other monsters seem to like rakes and tractors or even TVs.  This fun take on what is appropriate to eat and what isn't seems silly, but when one considers what babies and toddlers stick in their mouths turns out to be a rather important topic.  The cute illustrations are bound to elicit giggles and provide a way for parents/guardians to help young children discover what sorts of things are good to eat and what should be avoided.

REVIEW

This number book starts with one cat doing nothing until cat number two shows up and they become friends.  Each of the following spreads adds a cat to the group with a brief description.  As with the alphabet cats book, the highlight here are the adorable cat illustrations.  For those who love cats this is a hard book not to oh and ah at.  The cats are doing cat-like things such as prowling and pouncing and snuggling.  A fun book for cat lovers young and old.

REVIEW

Sophie the sea otter is searching for seashells and she needs the reader's help.  Each spread describes a specific color of shell with a type of decoration such as stripes, triangles, etc. that Sophie is looking to find.  On the opposite page, there are three flaps for young readers to lift looking for the right shell.  Young readers will be looking for shells along with young Sophie.  The final spread encourages readers to celebrate with Otto the octopus with a turning circle that shows Sophie with all her shells.  This is a fun way for young children to practice identifying shapes and colors.  The bright, colorful illustrations are cute and appealing.
