Full of information about animals and their unusual qualities and circumstances fill this fascinating book.  Some spreads focus on a particular animal such as horses, dogs, orcas, star-nosed mole, and the diving bell spider.  With a photograph and a couple of fun fact side comments and nerd alerts these spreads share information about a wide variety of different types of animals.  There are also sections on animals with specific characteristics in common such as animals with unique noses or that are vampire-like.  The FAQ sections answer questions such as do pets really have a secret life or do animals really sense bad guys?  There are spreads that highlight individuals who have unique interactions with animals.  And some spreads show charts that readers can engage with.  For young readers who love animals and fun, browsable books that provide a wealth of information along with gorgeous designs and photographs, this is a great choice.  The information is intriguing and even startling.  Young readers will be eager to share the things they learn.
