A loner alligator and a gregarious bird don't seem like they would be friends. But Beak doesn't give up even after Ally shows his lack of interest in being friends. In fact, Beak is persistent to the point of being annoying. Yet when Beak gets pushed out of his newly built nest, Ally steps up to help and proves that friendship comes in all sorts of unusual combinations. The bright colors and attractive colors are bound to attract young readers. The humor of the stories are likely to win young readers and encourage them to read future volumes. Like many such unusual friendships, Ally and Beak's rather opposing personalities guide the stories and their humorous interactions. A fun addition to the growing collection of graphic novels for younger readers.
