CHRISTMAS PICTURE BOOKS : Little Robin's Christmas/Maisy's Christmas Party/ The Crayons' Christmas
ABOUT THE BOOK
It's a week before Christmas and Little Robin has everything ready, including a nice warm vest for each frosty day. But Little Robin didn't count on meeting seven chilly friends, and his generosity gets the best of him as he shares his vests with the animals he meets. With no vest left for himself, poor little Robin huddles on an icy roof ... until someone very special comes to the rescue.
REVIEW
Robin eagerly looks forward to the arrival of Christmas. His seven warm vests have him all ready to enjoy winter activities in the meantime. But for each of the next seven days as Robin heads out to enjoy a variety of different activities, he comes across an animals suffering from the cold. His kind heart leads him to give away all of his vests. As he huddles, shivering on a roof, he's visited by one who appreciates his acts of kindness. The message in this book couldn't be clearer, but I didn't find it didactic in the slightest. Robin is a sweet character whose kindness feels natural as he seeks to help his friends. And the illustrations are absolutely darling. This is a Christmas book classic in the making, at least in my opinion. It's definitely going on my Christmas favorites shelf.

REVIEW
As a mail connoisseur this kind of book brings me an admittedly childlike pleasure. Maisy invites her friends to a Christmas party. As each friend replies, a letter is presented to the reader in a pocket along with a little surprise. The book contains Cousins' typical bright colors and simple lines along with a card that can be personalized makes for a fun Christmas read aloud while offering some fun activities for family time as well.
ABOUT THE BOOK
'Tis the season for all of us to write our holiday wishlists. But everyone--even the crayons--know the best presents are the ones that you give. In this unique book, readers get to see how Duncan, the crayons, and their families celebrate the holidays. With real, folded letters from the Crayons that you can pull from their envelopes and read, games, punch-out ornaments, a poster, and a pop-up tree, this book is the perfect gift for fans of The Day the Crayons Quit and The Day the Crayons Came Home.
REVIEW
The crayons return to celebrate Christmas using real letters, paper ornaments, a poster, a game, and a pop-up tree. I admit I have a soft spot for this kind of book. I've always gotten a kick out of pulling out the 'surprises' to see what's there. Young readers are likely to enjoy that aspect of the book as well. Plus Daywalt's crayons are as charming as always. While not as clean and crisp in terms of story as the previous titles there is still much to be enjoyed here (although I recommend making sure that young readers understand that the map poster is mislabeled on purpose). A fun book for those who can't get enough of Duncan and his crayons and their adventures.
