REVIEW

Cori Doerrfeld's delightful illustrations beautifully compliment Diana Murray's funny text.  When Dad and baby leave to run errands, a young child and his mother are left home together.  The child is thrilled to help his mother with her work.  Of course, as the illustrations clearly demonstrate, the child's help is rather less helpful than he thinks. Mom's patience is seriously tested but her son's good intentions save the day when he gives her a gold star for her efforts.  The rhyming text works quite well and is perfect for a fun read aloud. The illustrations take the book to the next level with their details and humor.  A hilariously relatable book for those parents and children who must find a way to work together at home.

REVIEW

The poetic text of Read Island sends readers on a journey to a magical island where creatures of all kinds meet to enjoy a story time.  This island made of books makes a great home for a bear, eagle, whale, and sea wolf all enjoy reading.  Together the creatures enjoy a story together.  Magistro's rhyming text flows well and would be great for a read aloud.  But the illustrations truly make the story come alive with its delightful details.  From a moose who carries books in its antlers to a raven toting a book on it's back, this island made of books radiates joy and magic.  This fun book reminds readers of the amazing places that books can take them each time they come to Read Island.
