Caitlin and her big brother, Dylan, are still getting used to shuttling between Mom’s new little house and Dad’s fancy new condo after their divorce. But summer means a solid six weeks with her dad. Finally, one toothbrush in one place and all her outfits together! So when her dad announces that he’s gotten a new job on the fanciest, most fun, family-friendly cruise line -- and he’s bringing his kids along -- Caitlin has mixed feelings. For about a minute!

Then off she goes on the adventure of a lifetime on the biggest ship she’s ever seen, the Wandering Princess, which is tricked out to perfection. But soon the pressures of being a crew kid get to Caitlin. She's already had to adjust to two new homes . . . will she be able to make the Wandering Princess her third?

REVIEW

In this light, fun early chapter book, readers will follow Caitlin and her brother, and bearded dragon, Peaches onto the Wandering Princess, a cruise ship. With her father taking on the job of ship's doctor, Caitlin and her brother become part of the crew. While excited to be on board the ship, Caitlin feels left out as Max, one of the other crew kids, keeps calling her a 'newbie'. He also tells her that she won't be 'official' until she rides the biggest water slide that goes out over the ocean and is transparent. Can Caitlin find a way to belong without causing too much trouble? This delightful series opener makes for a fun introduction to life on board a cruise ship. Caitlin and the other kids are realistic characters that it's easy to care about and an unusual pet adds to the fresh feel of the story. Recommended.

And this time is sure to be even more fun! The Feline Society has booked the whole ship for a cat-tastic cruise. But when The Kennel Club shows up, everyone realizes there's been a mistake. And now it's raining cats and dogs!

Caitlin and her brother, Dylan, and her bearded dragon, Peaches, get ready to set sail on their second cruise as crew kids. But problems arise when it's discovered that a group of dog owners and a group of cat owners have both been booked on the same cruise. Caitlin and Dylan and their friends want to help but the adults keep pushing them aside. Will they be able to find a way to smooth things over or is the cruise doomed to keeping the cats, dogs, and their owners apart?  Raining Cats and Dogs presents readers with a light, fun story with plenty of entertaining characters, both human and animal. The book also shows just how challenging the service industry can be, especially when animals are involved. Young readers who enjoy stories of traveling and animals are likely to enjoy this humorous adventure. Recommended.
