With a sentence about insects and a gorgeous illustration on each page, Curious About Insects provides young children with basic information about insects. A wide variety of insect characteristics are included with examples of each characteristic. Each illustration is labeled with the name of the insect being shown. Some of the insects included are as follows : dogbane leaf beetle, giant stag beetle, praying mantis, monarch butterfly, silverfish, Virginia ctenucha moth, Southeastern Lubber Grasshopper, and others. The text is straightforward and easy to understand. The illustrations are gorgeous and full of interesting details. This book makes for a great introduction to the natural world for young children.

Each fact is accompanied by a lovely illustration of a mammal along with a caption identifying the animal. A wide variety of different types of mammals are included, such as buffalo, elk, white-footed deermouse, blue whale, red squirrel, arctic fox, and koala. John Sill's gorgeous detailed illustrations match well with the text and make it easy to share with young listeners/readers.
