REVIEW
While reminding me a bit of Sendak's Where the Wild Things are, The Dino Door stands on it's one with it's colorful cuteness. The young boy in the story loves dinosaurs passionately which is obvious with the bright green costume the boy wears throughout the book. After playing with most of his toys and being reluctant to clean up the mess, boredom overtakes the boy momentarily. But markers and paper catch his eye and before long he's creating his own fantastic artwork. Taping a door onto his picture the boy finds himself entering his art to have a grand adventure with his new found dinosaur friends before returning home to clean his room and go to bed. The bright, colorful digital art pops off the page and will have no trouble pulling young readers into its pages. The art takes the deceptively simple text (Dino score. Dino oar. Dino floor. Dino chore.) and turns it into a grand adventure through the boy's imagination (with his dog tagging along). This book will sell itself once young children catch a glimpse of that cover and the fun art inside. The busy art matches the enthusiasm and passion of a young child very well. What a fun ride. Highly recommended.
