REVIEW
Oh, my goodness! Reading this book gave me a strong desire to hop on an airplane and go visit some of the places described and try the delicious looking and sounding foods. National Geographic has done a superb job of making food an adventure. The book is divided into sections, one for each continent as well as sections on the oceans and concerns related to feeding a global population (climate change, clean water, etc.). Each section on the continent shows maps and photos and recipes related to the various foods created from the crops and livestock available on that continent. The book was published before the war in Ukraine broke out so the impact of the war is not covered in the book. I loved reading about some of the great foods popular in various locations with descriptions and photographs available. Suggestions for digital investigation as well as recipes make this an more delightful book for food lovers. I learned a great deal. The book demonstrates beautifully how important food is in human society, not just physically but culturally as well.
