REVIEW
My Grandma's Photos shares the tender story of the love between a grandmother and her grandson. While Ali's grandmother can't communicate or remember things very well anymore, Ali still likes to spend time with her. One day Ali looks at some old photograph with his grandmother and her memories come alive allowing Ali to travel into the past with her. Ali enjoys climbing trees and riding ferries with his grandmother as well as visiting her in her seamstress shop and seeing her at her wedding. Combining real photographs with illustrations gives the reader a glimpse into the imaginary journey Ali and his grandmother take together. While this style of illustration isn't my favorite it does work well for the story and the relationship between the characters. This book provides a great way for young and old to connect with each other through memories.
