Now that Annie has helped her sister Gwendolyn (a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty) wake up from the 100-year curse by finding her beloved prince, you would think that things would get back to normal. Think again! That beloved prince, Beldegard, is stuck in the body of a bear and the only way that Annie can be free of the two irritating lovebirds is to help-by finding the evil dwarf who cast the spell. Luckily, Annie has assistance from handsome prince Liam, and she has many tricks up her non-magical sleeve . .
 
ABOUT THE AUTHOR


E.D. Baker made her international debut with The Frog Princess, which was a Book Sense Children's Pick and has been optioned for an animated movie. Dragon's Breath and Once Upon a Curse continue the Frog Princess series.

A mother of three, Ms Baker has had many interesting jobs: teacher, parrot caretaker at a garden centre, and currently, as a member of the Red Cross disaster Team, but her true love is writing. She lives in Maryland, USA, where she provides a home for two horses, one dog, three cats, one cockatiel and a bunny.

REVIEW

 
I've loved everything I've read by E.D. Baker and this book was no exception.  With plenty of humor and heart, I eagerly followed Annie on her quest to find help for her sister's betrothed.  I love the idea of a character upon whom magic has no effect, it creates unique and often humorous situations for both Annie and those around her both good and bad. The writing flows smoothly and allows the reader to focus on the story rather than the words (always a good sign in my opinion).  I enjoyed reading about the different fairy tale characters in roles both old and new.  For example, Old Mother Hubbard as a peacemaker, evil dwarves, Snow White, along with lots of fairies make the book a delight to read. There is a nice touch of romance, just enough to satisfy middle grade girls.  A fun light read, perfect for middle grade girls.
